Kolkata Police’s Special Task Force (STF) arrested a man and a woman and seized ten illegal firearms from them near Ruby Hospital in the Anandapur area. Acting on specific intelligence received on Sunday, STF officials launched a surveillance operation and tracked the suspects' movements. When the duo reached Nonadanga, they were intercepted and taken into custody.
According to police sources, the recovered firearms were of various makes and models. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were in possession of these weapons for undisclosed purposes. Authorities are verifying whether the firearms were meant for illegal sale or linked to any larger network.
The identities of the arrested individuals have not been disclosed yet. The seized firearms have been sent for forensic examination, and an investigation is underway to determine their origin and intended recipients. Police are also probing potential connections to known criminal networks. Both accused are being questioned, and further legal proceedings are in progress.
